My name is Mónika Michalovics, I live in Zala county, in Hungary. I like dance and music since my early childhood. As a child I played the piano and the flute and also tried several kinds of dance. The first was eurhythmics, than jazz ballet and partner dances. After that I was dancing Irish step for four years and beside that I was also teaching it to others. After the hardness of Irish dance I desired something softer and more womanly. This is how I found belly dance, which carried me away at once because of permitting so much improvisation. I felt immediately, that this is the form of motion that I was looking for all of my life.
I started to get to know with belly dance at the workshop of Aziza, who is my teacher now. Than I tried to dance and exercise at home as I hadn't got any opportunity to have belly dance lessons at that time. After that I continued my studies with Yeira for awhile, and than fortunately I could return to Aziza. I learned a lot from her and I qualified as belly dancing teacher at her school as well. I think it is indispensable to continue learning, so I try to take all opportunities of developing. Beside that I also visit workshops and postgraduate studies of famous belly dancers.
Belly dance takes up all my time nowadays - my hobby became my profession. I think it is very important, that women - living though in the smallest villages - have the opportunity to take expert dance lessons. My aim is to let more and more women into the mysterious world of this form of motion and to help them discovering themselves the numberless beneficial results of belly dance. I think I am very lucky to do what I like doing and beside that there are wonderful people around me...
